    BEE SCHOOL SUMMER CAMP 2024

    School may BEE out, but the BEE will be BUZZING!  As a former Division 1 athlete, Annie is very passionate about supporting the health of young aspiring female student athletes in these modern times.  Utilizing her education in kinesiology, human clinical nutrition, integrative nutrition, and culinary health + healing, Annie and Team Bee are excited to finally bring MINDFUL EATING CULINARY CAMPS to central Illinois!  This 4-week program will be held at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex and will BEE 90 minutes of pure, interactive, and flavorful exercises designed to help athletes navigate Nutrition.  This camp is ideal for female athletes ages 13-18; however, we will expand upon interest as the program evolves!

    DATES TO BEE RELEASED MID MAY 2024

    HOW OFTEN CAN I CLEANSE?

    In Ayurveda, cleansing is seen as a gentle return to balance. We believe in bio-individuality;  where no one diet or regimen works for everyone all of the time.  Annie suggests working 1 on 1 with her if you wish for a deeper practice + path into healing your body through proper food protocols + lifestyle shifts.  Annie has designed these suggested Juice & Broth protocols to practice FOOD AS MEDICINE: 

    1-day: for routine maintenance and small digestive breaks (weekly or monthly)

    3-day: for a gentle re-boot + digestif healer (weekly or monthly or for SURGERY Prep/Recovery)

    5-day: for lifestyle (monthly for a healthful influence as a lifestyle, or 4 times per year, or specific for Surgery Prep/Recovery)

    SUPPLEMENTS WHILE CLEANSING

    SUPPLEMENTS CAN’T COMPETE WITH REAL FOOD. If you are on supplements, it is a suggestion that you set them aside during your Juice + Broth Restorative, and even perhaps re-evaluate taking them at all afterwards.  Supplements may be contributing to an underlying problem in the first place, causing confusion for your brain + beautiful body. Your physician may have prescribed them to you; however, multivitamins and other supplements cannot fully replace the nutritional value of good old-fashioned food. The body was designed to absorb vital nutrients from food.  Common minerals like calcium, magnesium, and iron can actually block others from being taken up into the body through the gut. For example, the sulforaphane you get from freshly juiced spinach is going to be very different than what you get from the dehydrated food concentrates found packed in vitamin pills.

    ***this isn’t to say some Vitamins (vitamin D) are a great resource. Processing MEGA-DOSES of vitamins, minerals, herbs, additives, etc. is very hard work for the liver and kidneys.

    A juice fast is a great opportunity to learn about your addictions, we all have them.  The more you practice cleansing, the more you learn about yourself + can return to balance.

    Tips for a safe + successful cleanse:

    TRY THIS: Lying flat on your back is also a good form of blood dialysis, 20 minutes is very helpful each day. 

    STAY ACTIVE BUT GENTLE: movement is amazing for your lymphatic system.  don’t overdo it.

    TIPS FOR BALANCE: 

    tongue scrape in the morning. Tongue scraping not only promotes healthy dental care but also allows your taste buds to work properly and free those toxins from building up and going back into your body!  (copper tongue scrapers for sale at our store)

    dry brush your beautiful body in the morning.  This can help to stimulate the circulation and lymphatic systems.  It can help with bloating and helps to shed excess water and toxins, plus will leave your skin feeling smoother!

    2 lemon

    1/2 cucumber

    handful or more of raw spinach

    1/2 cup probiotic yogurt, (I like the tanginess of GT’s COCOYO brand)

    2oz WHAT UP G Bee Well Shot from The Balanced Bee or 1 thumb size knob of peeled ginger

    1T. raw honey

    1/2tsp. turmeric powder and black pepper

    1 cup of ice

    Blend very well and enjoy! yum!!!

     

     

    MID-MORNING: if you need and/or have time for something in addition to a juice, I recommend a SMOOTHIE OR FRUIT BOWL with apple, banana, and berries with fresh lemon juice on top.

    CHIA PUDDING is great for morning time! Loaded w fresh fruits!

    Most people may go for eggs; however, I really recommend that for special occasion or later in the day.  Eggs are mucus forming in your system and I try to reserve all fats for later in the day so that my liver has a change to WIN!

    *Hard-boiled eggs are my suggestion if you need eggs in the AM.

    LUNCH TIME: healing salad with a side of bone broth 

    First and foremost, it’s important to eat slow, chew your food, and just eat. don’t multi-task.

    Salad Boost 1:

    I love to make healthy salads with a base of deep gentle greens:

    base: arugula and spinach are my favorite, they are easy to digest.

    Next, I love to build my greens with fancy things

    builder: avocado, capers, or olives.

    basics: Then add basics like cucumber, radishes, or shaved carrots.

    dressing: I like to mix lots of organic lemon juice with a very high quality cold-pressed olive oil or avocado oil. I’ll add maldon salt and pepper for flavor if needed. That’s it!

    BONE BROTH: heat gently over the stove top while assembling your salad and sip in a mug or pour over your salad to make a warm soup!

    BONE BROTH: heat gently over the stove top while assembling your salad and sip in a mug or pour over your salad to make a warm soup!

    LUNCH TIME: lentils with kale

    First and foremost, it’s important to eat slow and just eat. don’t multi-task.

    make lentils according to box/bag. incorporate kale at the end to fold in a gently steam.

     SNACKS: snacks are needed sometimes throughout the day!

    I highly suggest keeping apples on hand and snack on those as much as you want. Apples are truly so amazing for your liver.

    I also really recommend getting yourself into DATES. They are also very amazing for your liver and will help to curb nasty sugar cravings.

    I usually also snack on our Nutritional Nooch DAILY!!!  They are available in store on Wednesdays…the raw garlic helps protect me from any sickness!

    **you can also always have another JUICE at this time!

    DINNER: I recommend to eat another small salad prior to dinner, try to keep ingredients simple here.  I love romaine for dinner salad.

    Your first actual meal after a cleanse could consist of a heavy dose of steamed veggies.

    -potatoes with fresh dill are hearty and one of my most favorite things to eat. Potatoes are SO good for you.

    -i suggest steamed or roasted brussel sprouts and broccoli.

    -i love to take a large amount of cauliflower, steam it and then drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with nutritional yeast. Often times I will add steamed broccoli in there and it’s such a hearty meal.

    try boosting your meals with fresh herbs, it makes all the difference.

    DINNER: I recommend to another small serving of bone broth prior to dinner.  This will really help to ease digestion of your foods.

    -while I recommend eating as many fresh veggie as possible after your Restorative, you could start to add in seafood if you like

    -steamed veggies. get them in.

    simple baked salmon, steamed chicken on top of a salad. or pan roasted cod.

    **snack on dates or apples after dinner if need a sweet!

     

    DINNER: Bone Broth puree soup 

    Grab a 32oz bag of our bone broth of choice, and be prepared to have what I like to call a “lazy fancy meal”

    Gently sauté carrots, and cauliflower or broccoli in coconut oil for about 5-10 min.

    Add in raw garlic and any herbs you prefer, but our bone broth has an abundance of flavor depth.

    Cover veg with 32oz of bone broth and more water if needed, depending on how much veg you are trying use.  Let simmer for about 30-40 min to soften the veg and build flavor.

    Strain the broth and veg into another large pot or bowl.

    Puree the veggie first, then slowly incorporate the broth back in until desired consistency.

    Season with salt and pepper if desired.

    don’t forget to eat your apples and dates 🙂

    PAUSE. SIP. PROCEED.

     

    Day 1 Routine:

    rise + shine. take a deep breath. (brush your teeth + tongue scrape to remove all of the toxins from your tongue). collect your thoughts + intentions for the day.

     

    body brush + cold shower rinse. body brushing works best when done daily at home. it stimulates your lymphatic system, and that is very important to start your day.

    Day 2 + 3+ 4 + 5 Routine:

    REPEAT DAY 1 MORNING ROUTINE.

    Post Juice + Broth Restorative:

    ease your body back into solid foods.

    1x ONLY WATER FLUSH, if needed to jump start your bowels: Fill a large glass with 16oz of room temperature water (preferably filtered). Boil 4-6 additional ounces of water over the stove top and top off your 16oz room temp. water to consume approximate body temperature water. Drink all at once to flush! You may feel a bit dizzy at first and then you will feel FULL of energy.

    Day 1: Tuesday

    1. celery juice

      12-16oz of raw fresh celery juice when consumed in the morning on an empty stomach is so valuable for your overall health + healing. To start, celery juice aids in digestion of all other foods. When consumed consecutively, celery juice helps to calm inflammation by starving harmful pathogens that can attack your system with 100s of different symptoms. The naturally occurring mineral salts in celery juice act as an antii-septic to kill the pathogens!  THIS ROUTINE IS MEGA HEALING WHEN PRACTICED DAILY. I suggest starting kids age 8 and above on 8oz of celery juice.
